HSA/FSA Funds

Exciting news - we’ve partnered with TrueMed to allow you to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) at Nordica This means you can buy our products with pre-tax dollars, resulting in net savings of 30-40%.

TrueMed is on a mission to make healthy options more affordable. You can learn more about them here.

Since saunas, ice bath tubs, and other wellness products are now considered to be very beneficial tools for one's mental and physical health, FSA and HSA cards are now being accepted as health and medical expenses.

HSAs and FSAs were created for you to spend tax-advantaged dollars on products and services that can treat or prevent medical conditions and TrueMed is making it easy to do just that.

How does it work?

The process is simple - we’ll send you reimbursement instructions right after payment.

How do I qualify?

  1. Get Pre-Qualified on your item's product page by selecting the "Get Pre-Qualified" link.
  2. If TrueMed determines that Finnish Sauna Builders products can help prevent or reverse a health condition you care about (making it eligible for HSA/FSA), they will send you a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN).
  3. Once you are approved, just submit the receipts for this and all future Finnish Sauna Builders orders with your LMN to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. TrueMed will send instructions to get reimbursed and their customer support team will be available to assist.

More details

  • TrueMed is for patients for whom the selected product has been proven to prevent or reverse a condition you care about. An asynchronous health survey will determine eligibility and take qualified patients to payment.
  • You pay with your personal credit card, and we'll send reimbursement instructions.

Please reach out if you have any questions about using your HSA/FSA or would like additional information about the process.

Truemed FAQs

What is Truemed? +
Truemed partners with health and wellness brands to enable qualified customers to use HSA/FSA funds on health and wellness purchases. It is backed by investors like Mark Hyman and founders from Thrive Market, Eight Sleep, and Levels.
How does using my HSA/FSA save me money? +
HSA/FSA accounts use pre-tax money, providing more purchasing power for your dollars. You can contribute up to $3850 pretax to an HSA per year, or $7750 for a family, with additional allowances based on age and family size.
Why should I use my HSA/FSA funds with Truemed's partner brands? +
Using your HSA/FSA funds on eligible products can result in significant savings as these accounts use pre-tax dollars, which means you could save up to 30-40% on average on your purchases at Truemed’s partner brands.
I don't have an HSA/FSA. Can I still benefit from TrueMed? +
Unfortunately, Truemed’s services are for individuals who have HSA or FSA accounts. We encourage you to ask your employer about information on your HSA or FSA.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant? +
A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) qualifies certain wellness purchases as medical expenses. This satisfies all IRS requirements, making your wellness spend fully reimbursable under the terms of your HSA/FSA.
What are HSA and FSA accounts anyway? +
HSAs and FSAs are tax-free accounts for qualified medical expenses, usually managed by an administrator through your employer. HSAs are associated with high-deductible health plans and do not expire, while FSAs are independent and expire each calendar year.
Can I just use my HSA or FSA card at checkout? +
It's recommended to transact with a normal credit or debit card and submit for reimbursement. Using your HSA/FSA card directly may not always be successful without a Letter of Medical Necessity.
How long does HSA or FSA reimbursement take? +
Most FSA/HSA administrators approve expenses within days when submitted with a Truemed Letter of Medical Necessity, though exact timing varies based on the administrator.
I don't have enough funds in my HSA/FSA account to reimburse the entire purchase. Can I still use Truemed? +
Yes, you can submit for partial reimbursement. For example, if you purchase an eligible item for $100 but only have $60 in your account, you can reimburse $60 of your purchase with your tax-free funds.
What if my reimbursement is rejected by the administrator? +
Truemed offers a reimbursement guarantee for purchases with official Truemed merchant partners. As long as you have funds in your HSA or FSA account, Truemed will work to ensure your purchase is reimbursed in full.
Can I use Truemed's services for past purchases? +
Generally, you should submit expenses incurred on or after the date listed on your Letter of Medical Necessity, as reimbursing past purchases prior to the LMN issuance is not advised.
Do I need to use Truemed every time I make a purchase from a partner brand? +
If you have already received an LMN for purchases with a partner brand and it is still valid, you do not need to complete the survey again.
Are there fees associated with using Truemed's services? +
There is no cost to you as long as you are shopping with a Truemed partner merchant.
What if I haven't contributed to my HSA or FSA? Will I still be able to maximize my savings? +
You can elect to increase contributions to your HSA or FSA during open enrollment, allowing you to start shopping with Truemed merchant partners with pre-tax funds.
If a customer wants to use an HSA/FSA card, but does not have enough funds, what happens? +
The customer should checkout using the Truemed Payment option. This option will take the customer to the standard intake survey, which indicates "Optionally, use a credit card and get reimbursed through your HSA/FSA later". The customer can input their credit card to complete the purchase, and Truemed will automatically issue instructions for getting the purchase reimbursed with their HSA/FSA provider. In the case that the customer attempts to use their HSA/FSA card but does not have enough funds, Truemed will reject the transaction and prompt the customer to use a credit card.

Can customers seek reimbursement for services rendered/products purchased in the past prior to their medical recommendation letter being issued? +
Reimbursing purchases from the past prior to the LMN issuance is generally not allowed and not something Truemed recommends that customers do.
