Harvia Virta Combi 8 kW Sauna Heater
The Harvia Virta Combi 8 kW Sauna Heater (HL8U1SA) is the 8-kilowatt variant of Harvia's dual-function dry + steam sauna heater. Brushed stainless steel housing, vertical stone bed, integrated 5 L water reservoir, soapstone fragrance cup, and stainless steel grate for aroma bags, one appliance, four sauna experiences (dry, soft steam, herbal, fragrance).
Pairs with the Harvia Xenio CX30C Combi power unit (Tier 2, bundled), or the next-generation Fenix FX30C Combi power unit (Tier 3). Designed for standard residential 2–4 person sauna cabins where the owner also wants soft steam, herbal, and fragrance modes from 177 to 431 cubic feet; available in 240V 1-Phase (2 circuits) service.

Why the 8 kW Size
The Virta Combi 8 kW is rated for sauna cabins between 177 and 460 cubic feet, best for standard residential 2–4 person sauna cabins where the owner also wants soft steam, herbal, and fragrance modes. For larger cabins step up to the Virta Combi 9 or 10.5 kW; for dry-only sauna in this kW range see the standard Harvia Virta sibling line.
What "Combi" Means, Four Modes, One Heater
The Combi's defining feature is the integrated water reservoir that lets the heater deliver four distinct sauna experiences without any second appliance:
- Traditional Dry Sauna, runs the heating elements on the stone bed exactly like a standard Harvia Virta.
- Soft Steam Sauna, the reservoir feeds water onto a separate steam-element circuit for continuous, low-temperature humidity. Ideal for users who find traditional Finnish sauna heat too dry.
- Herbal Sauna, the stainless steel grate above the reservoir holds herb bags so steam carries the herbal aroma through the cabin.
- Fragrance Sauna, the soapstone cup holds a few drops of essential oil; the cup heats with the stone bed and releases fragrance gradually through the session.
Xenio CX30C vs Fenix FX30C, What's the Difference?
Both the Xenio CX30C and the Fenix FX30C are Combi-aware power units, designed to control heating element output and water reservoir/fragrance functions together in one box. Tier 2 ships with the CX30C (Harvia's established Combi control with WiFi/MyHarvia app support). Tier 3 substitutes the FX30C, Harvia's next-generation Combi platform with an integrated color touchscreen and the new Fenix control architecture. The Fenix tier is the longer-runway choice as Harvia migrates the entire product line to Fenix over time.
Note: The Combi Fenix is a dedicated power unit (FX30C-U1 at 240V / FX30C-U3 at 208V 3-Phase), not the add-on display (FX004XW) used on the dry Virta and other Xenio families. The FX30C replaces the CX30C entirely.
Sauna Stones
Every "Heater + Control + Stones" package (and the Fenix Combi tier) ships with the correct quantity of Harvia AC3020 sauna stones, olivine diabase, 10–15 cm size grade, 20 kg (44 lb) per box. The larger 10–15 cm grade is preferred for Virta Combi because the bigger stones pack more efficiently into the heater's vertical stone bed and the larger thermal mass holds heat longer through both dry and steam cycles. Stone quantity by kW: 3 boxes (8 / 9 kW), 4 boxes (10.5 kW).
Installation & Electrical Requirements
The Virta Combi 8 kW requires dedicated 240V 1-Phase (2 circuits) wiring (29.2 Amps (2 circuits @ 240V), 10 Gauge Copper × 2) installed by a licensed electrician familiar with sauna heater installations. The Virta Combi is UL Listed.

About the Harvia Virta Combi Family
Harvia Virta Combi is the dual-function evolution of the classic Virta heater, same brushed stainless-steel housing and vertical stone bed, plus an integrated 5-liter (1.32 gal) water reservoir with auto and manual fill, a soapstone fragrance cup, and a stainless steel grate for aroma bags. The Combi delivers four cabin experiences from a single appliance: traditional dry sauna, soft steam sauna, herbal sauna, and fragrance sauna.
Because the Combi runs both heating elements and a water reservoir, it requires a Combi-aware power unit. The Harvia Xenio CX30C (Tier 2) is the standard control and handles dry/steam/herbal/fragrance mode switching plus WiFi/MyHarvia app control. Tier 3 swaps the CX30C for the Harvia Fenix FX30C Combi, the next-generation touchscreen Combi control, for the longest-runway platform investment as Harvia transitions from Xenio to Fenix across the line.
